I like pretty eggs. If I am going to feed a hen, I want her to produce not only a pretty egg, but lots of them. I also like at least a large egg so we consider size as well. I have some Production Reds that are crosses of Rhode Island Reds that were bred so that the sex can be determined at birth. These birds gave me super jumbo eggs so I bred them to my Easter Egger rooster. The cross has given me pretty birds that lay a LOT of green eggs that are also often over 65 grams.

Because I enjoy these eggs so much, we are growing out some Rhode Island Reds to get some good production birds. We are going to put these girls in with our Cream Legbars and hope to get hens that lay lots of eggs that are good size and have a pretty green color. Look for these birds and hatching eggs in 2019.
